Passed California State License Exam

Today has been a tough but happy day as I passed my state “full life agent” insurance license exam. After being screwed up twice for the online exam, I no longer trust the PSI anymore. Called them Wednesday to ask for an on-site exam ASAP. Turned out the earliest date was today at 9 AM in the city. Only slept four hours last night and left home 6:50, arrived there 7:25 with an empty stomach (a half day fasting).

The exam was a bit surprise as only about 20% questions were overlapping with the simulate exams. Even those overlapped ones had different wording. Apparently they don’t want make it too easy! Ten minutes into the test I remember telling myself “I am gonna fail the test!” I never used more than 45 minutes for all simulate exams but today I used the full 195 minutes to triple checking the answers just to make sure.

When I exited the test, the system showed in green letters: Passed but no scores. Two hours later I received email message from California Department of Insurance that I passed it with 87% right (130 right out of a total of 150). Strangely, I clearly remembered answering 155 questions, not 150. Someone at the test center said the extra 5 questions will only be used for anyone bordering the passing score of 60% right. Assuming I got all 5 extra questions right, then 135/150=90%. According to one agency firm the average agent exam score is 72% so my score was not too bad.

I am thinking about establishing a Berkeley team of insurance agents and in-home senior caregivers. The beauty of both duties is time flexibility and each person can choose to work as many or as few hours as he/she wants. Perfect for a part time job to fit the busy schedule of students.

Since I will get a license for the so called “full life agent” in the lines of life, accident, and health, which include long term care as a stand alone policy or as a rider to a life insurance policy or even annuities, selling insurance and caregivers are actually related.
