Celebration & Thanksgiving

I did not sleep as tight as I usually do last night, perhaps because I expected something big on the first Saturday after the election, which by the way is not hard to fathom if you follow the NYT election updates constantly. Or perhaps because I met some people last night who showed less enthusiasm about Dems (or politics in general), which served as a good reminder not to take your own feelings, opinions, preferences for granted, even in California, assuming others feeling the same!

Whatever the reason (or reasons), I woke up twice — when my typical night only features one visit to the bathroom — followed by two hours of awaking time (an biological clock in my body inherited from my mom, which forces me to usually hit the bed by 9 or 10 pm to ensure roughly 7.5 hours of sleeping time if I want to wake up by 8).

I heard the news on NYT election updates this morning on my iPad: “CNN was the first network to claim Biden victory!” When I took my first walk of the day, I heard the sorority girls near my house shouting, chanting and dancing, people in their cars also honked in response. I gave two thumbs and big “V” to the dancing girls when I passed their house, which I think they liked.

It is one of the happiest days for me and I must write this blog to save the memory of the historical changes as I witnessed it! It gives a good reason to celebrate the coming Thanksgiving and Xmas this year! Sorry Donald Trump, you will not be able to ruin our holidays this year!

There have been many commentaries but I like the one by CNN’s Van Jones, who cried on air and said “Being a good person matters!”
